Sandakphu Trek


Itinerary Details


Day 1 Darjeeling to Dhotre Drive (2hrs) Later Dhotre to Tumling Trek (3070mt/10072ft) 5/6Hrs

Start sandakphu trek with morning drive till maneybhanjyang, In maneybhanjyang we will take our breakfast and entry our passport details. We will then continue our drive till dhotre from maneybhanjyang which is another 45 minutes. Dhotre is a small village and also our trek starting point ,From dhotre the day hike is uphill and the trail passes through forests of Rhododendrons and Magnolias. Day one trek is not so long, before tumling we will reach tonglu where we will have our Lunch.Tonglu is also the second highest point in entire West Bengal.Tonglu is famous for mountain view and also the research centre for medicinal plants. After having lunch and rest for while, another 30 minutes downhill trek till tumling, Tumling a small village at the border of India and Nepal is our destination for day one. The trekkers hut at Tumling(2790m) is located on a hill top overlooking the Sikkim Himalayas. Tumling is in Nepal side of border. Evening go for sunset with our Guide,later explore tumling

Day 2 Tumling to Kalapokhari Trek (3186 mt / 10453ft) 4/5hrs

In day two our guide will wake you early morning and take you for sunrise. Later we will take our breakfast and start our day two trek, a pleasant walk through the forest which is home to the rare Red Panda and the Tragopan. From Tumling trails are straight for kilometre then later we descend few hundred meters down till Gairibans. Gairibans is a small village and also base for security forces of India ( SSB) . Gairibans is also famous for Bird watching and Red panda destination, we usually stop in Gairibans for the tea break before the uphill trek to kalapokhari which is around 6 km from Gairibans. Reach Kalapokhri (famous for the pond of black water which never freezes and is revered by the local people) trekkers hut where we spend the night. Afternoon you are free to explore Kalapokhari, a small village of Nepal.

Day 3 Kalapokhari to Sandakphu Trek (3636mt / 11929ft) 05 Kms 3/4hrs

Day three during sandakphu trek is the shortest trek, we start late today. After breakfast, we start our trek to Sandakphu(3636mt) which takes about 3/4 hrs. Trek is short but trails are Uphill. After 5 km we finally reach Sandakphu. Sandakphu which is the highest point in the entire state of West Bengal is famous for its mountain view. On a clear day, one can see the peaks of Lhotse (8501mt), Everest (8848mt) and Makalu (8475mt) of the Nepal Himalayas and the huge Kanchenjunga massif (8586mt) along with other peaks of the Sikkim Himalayas. After reaching sandakphu you will be welcomed with hot lunch then you are free to take rest or explore the area, later in the evening our Guide will take you for sunset in a place named “GOAT” located in Nepal side. If lucky one can see waves of Clouds below with amazing sunset. Evening Tea/ coffee and later take dinner then Overnight Stay in Sandakphu

Day 4 Sandakphu to Sirikhola Trek,Later Sirikhola to Darjeeling Drive

On day four of our Sandakphu trek, we wake early morning and go for Sunrise. View from sandakphu during the morning is extremely clear if weather is good, changing colour of mountains during sunrise is something to experience.Our guide will brief you about mountain ranges and entire vegetation. After the briefing you are free to take pictures and enjoy your time, later we take our breakfast then we will leave for Sirikhola. our last day trek from sandakphu to sirikhola is entire downhill. Trek through the most beautiful pine and rhododendron forests of the Singalila range. One of the few places in the world where you might see a red panda in the wild. Reach sirikhola by noon, be fresh then take lunch. Later Drive to Darjeeling in our company vehicle for approx 4 hrs drive with our guide. Reach Darjeeling, Collect you materials or leftovers from office and our Guide will drop you till Hotel. Trek Ends
